Noting that he was not a total expert in coaching, Kolkata Knight Riders Coach Dav Whatmore on Wednesday said he was still learning.
"I am not the total expert. I am still learning,' Whatmore, a former coach of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh national cricket squads, said in his inaugural address at a one-day seminar on 'contemporary coaching practices' organised by Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) here.
Sessions like this will help one to upskill their ability to do the job better, he said, adding such interactions enabled sharing and gaining knowledge and applying it to a particular situation.
Lauding KCA, Whatmore said the association was pretty keen to make 'a great contribution to Indian cricket by raising the standard of Kerala cricket'.
'I am here to interact and share my knowledge and also gain one or two things from you,' he said.
KCA Secretary T C Mathew said with a view to tapping the potential and nurturing it, the association would be starting cricket academies in all the 14 districts of the state. Two academies one at Thiruvananthapuram and the other at Ernakulam had already started functioning, he said.
