Senior Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi has dismissed reports about a possible rift within the national team and said in the eyes of captain Younus Khan every player is equal.
He told a charity function in Manchester that Younus was like an elder brother to the players.
"It does not matter to him whether a player is from Sindh, Punjab or North West Frontier Province. He treats everyone the same and looks after us well," said Afridi, who along with Younus are in the United Kingdom on a fund-raising trip for an Islamic charity organisation.
"Younus has a lot of respect for all the guys in the team, whether you are a senior player or new player. This makes everyone feel part of the team set-up and not an outsider. He has really made the team gel," he added.
The flamboyant all-rounder is now Pakistan's T20 captain after Younus announced his retirement from the shortest format of the game following the nation's T20 World Cup triumph in England.
Afridi also narrated the discussion that took place between him and Younus about how a title win would inspire and lift the spirits of Pakistani people in difficult times while they were on the same flight to London before the World T20.
"We spoke about how the people were really depressed because of the situation in the country. I think that conversation on the flight made us even more determined to lift the trophy and was the start of our dream to win the competition for the people of Pakistan," he said.
He also promised a tough competition from Pakistan in the forthcoming Champions Trophy in South Africa, insisting the team has the potential and motivation to repeat their World T20 success.
