The mutual admiration between explosive West Indies batter and Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is quite well known. Russell has been a part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) since 2014 and over the years, his social media tributes for franchise co-owner Shah Rukh Khan has gone viral on social media. SRK was in attendance during the ILT20 match between Abu Dhabi Knight Riders and Desert Vipers on Sunday and Russell decided to pay a special tribute on the field after the end of the match.
Russell, who plays for Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in the competition, recreated SRK's iconic pose by spreading his arms wide and even showed off his muscles as the crowd cheered.
SRK responded by applauding the West Indies all-rounder and expressed his appreciation with a flying kiss. The actor also cheered Russell along with the fans and asked him to show off his muscles.
Knight Riders won the match against Desert Vipers by six wickets.
Earlier, Russell featured in a video posted by KKR where he could not hide his emotions while watching the trailer of Shah Rukh Khan's movie 'Jawan' that released in 2023.
"Woww, So he's playing more than one role in this movie. So, I think it's gonna be another hit movie. Definitely like the action, the little funny sides of Shah Rukh. So you know, it's just the trailer, just imagine watching the full movie. Hopefully it's showing in Guyana and we can all go and watch it," said Russell in the video.
