Both teams have points to prove after being steamrolled by the champions India over the previous fortnight in England.

While Clive Lloyd has backed Darren Sammy to become the ODI skipper again, the man himself is more than happy just to play for the country. Sammy is seen (in pic) enjoying the training sessions before West Indies' game against Sri Lanka. (All AFP images and text)

The current West Indies skipper, Dwayne Bravo, goes through his routine.
"We are disappointed at how we exited the Champions Trophy, but I think those who look at the competition closely say that we really gave it our best shot," said Bravo on his arrival here for the series which opens with the hosts taking on Sri Lanka.

Kumar Sangakkara with his experience will always be an important cog in Sri Lanka's wheel. He has been impressive all this while but would now want his touch to rub on to his teammates if a Sri Lankan win is to become a possibility.

Johnson Charles is flamboyant and unconventional when it comes to hitting at the top of the order. He though has Chris Gayle for company there. Charles though would be looking for more consistent performances.

Sunil Narine has delivered the goods for West Indies, more often than not. His Champions Trophy performance too was noteworthy. The home side will want him to remain 'in his elements' while facing Sri Lanka and India in the tri-series, both known for playing spin well.

Darren Bravo has all that it takes to become a Brian Lara, but for the consistency. His performances against India have been generally good and Bravo would want to repeat that. In home conditions, the dashing left-hander will hope to tame bowlers from the sun-continent.

Chris Gayle will always remain West Indies' go-to man despite not faring too well of late. After a forgetful Champions Trophy campaign, he will want to impress in home conditions and dismiss critics who fell his performances go down while playing for the country.
