New Delhi :
Four-time world champion woman boxer M C Mary Kom on Friday offered a solution to deal with the menace of sexual harassment, which has plunged Indian sports into a embarrassing crisis right now.
The diminutive Manipuri, who proudly claims to have beaten up an auto rickshaw driver who behaved inappropriately with her, felt the girls should just learn a bit of boxing for the sake of self defense.
"Boxing is a sport which can come in handy for self defense. It has helped me," she said amid peels of laughter.
On a more serious note, the 27-year-old mother of two felt all those guilty in the recent sex scandals that have rocked hockey and weightlifting should be punished.
"I feel justice should be done and all those who have done something wrong should be brought to book," the Khel Ratna awardee, who was roped in as the brand ambassador of American nutritional supplements company Herbalife, said.
Asked whether she has ever faced any harassment in her career, Mary Kom jokingly recalled an instance when she beat up an auto rickshaw driver in Imphal.
"Harassment happens everywhere... not just in Delhi. It's there in Imphal as well. I remember I thrashed an auto rickshaw driver when he misbehaved with me. Knowing boxing helps in such situations," the three-time Asian champion laughed.
