Indian shuttler P Kashyap crashed out of the Chinese Taipei Grand Prix Gold badminton tournament after suffering a straight-game defeat against higher-ranked Sony Kuncoro of Indonesia on Thursday.
World number 25 Kashyap was tamed by the second seed Indonesian 17-21 15-21 in a 34-minute second round match in the men's singles.
Kashyap played well at the nets but failed to negotiate the powerful smashes of Sony.
In the first game, Kashyap was left to do the catch up job and although the Indian drew parity at 11-11 and 15-15. The Indian couldn't continue it for too long as Sony raced away with six straight points to pocket the first game.
In the second game, Kashyap crumbled as Sony opened up a big 11-5 lead before eventually winning the match.
