India's mixed doubles pair Jwala Gutta and V Diju on Thursday advanced to the quarterfinals of the World Badminton Championsips in Hyderabad.
They became the first Indian pair to do so after beating polish opponents Robert Mateusiak and Nadiezda Kostiuczyk 21-11, 22-20 in 31 minutes.
However, Chetan Anand went down against sixth seed Sony Dwi Kuncoro 16-21, 16-21 in the men's singles pre-quarterfinals.
