AITA wants ITF to set a precedent while deciding punishment
The AITA wants the International Tennis Federation to slap an exemplary punishment on Australia for forfeiting their Davis Cup tie against India.

The All India Tennis Association wants the International Tennis Federation to slap an exemplary punishment on Australia for forfeiting their Davis Cup tie against India.
ITF's Davis Cup Committee will meet via a tele conference on May 22 to decide how to penalise Australia for refusing to travel to India, citing security reasons for their Asia/Oceania Group I tie earlier this month, paving way for the hosts' uncontested entry to the play-off stage.
AITA Secretary General Anil Khanna contended that Australia, being a member on the Board of Directors of ITF, were aware of the repercussions of forfeiting the tie.
"AITA is very clear that the ITF has always taken a very firm and correct stand on non-participation of nations in both Fed Cup and Davis Cup. Nations have been banned in past for failures to play in ties," he said in a statement.
"Perhaps this is the first time that despite ITF having taken steps of sending a security company to the host nation to satisfy the doubts of the visiting team, the visiting team decided not to participate in the Davis cup despite a positive report of the ITF.
"AITA is confident that ITF will keep this point in mind while taking a decision, as this decision will be a precedent setting decision for participation in Davis Cup and Fed Cup in future," Khanna said in statement.
