Seema's bronze and the mixed relay silver sees India's medal tally at Asian Games 2026 rise to 17. A total of five medals added today, making it India's joint-best day so far.

Here's how the mixed 4x400m relay at Asian Games 2026 finished. An excellent effort by Manu TS, Poovamma MR, Vishal Thennarasu and Vithya Ramraj.

It was a photo finish, as India beat Vietnam by just eight milliseconds.

India win silver in mixed 4x400m relay! India were on the backfoot early on, but an excellent run by Vishal Thennarasu and Vithya Ramraj on the final two portions clinched silver for the nation!

Two athletics medals in a span of 20 minutes!

The 4x400m mixed relay final is about to begin! It is India's final athletics event on Day 5 of the Asian Games 2026. The quartet of Poovamma Raju, Vishal Thennarasu, Vithya Ramraj and Manu TS are representing India.

India have a great record in this event, having won gold in 2018 and silver in 2022!

Seema wins bronze in women's 10,000m! It's India's first medal in the event in 16 years, and only the third ever. Seema finishes with a time of 32:50.05!

Bahrain's Winfred Yavi clinches gold with a time of 32:39.18, while Japan's Nozomi Tanaka bags silver with a time of 32:41.54. Here's the Top 10:

We are past the 8,000m mark in the women's 10,000m final. Seema is running third for India! Can she deliver India's only third-ever medal in this event in Asian Games history?

We are more than halfway through the 10,000m final. Seema is right in the medal hunt, and running along with the lead pack. This will be an intense finish!

The athletes have completed more than 3,000m in the 10,000m final. India's Seema has run a strong race so far, and has spent most of the run in the medal positions.

India's Seema is in action in the women's 10,000m final! She has a good chance of a medal, as her season best is only bettered by one other athlete in the final.

Asha Ilango does not improve. Her final attempt is 13.59m. So, she misses out on the bronze medal despite tying China's Yi Li with a best of 13.83m, as Yi Li has a better second-best.

Heartbreak for Asha, so close yet so far to India's historic first women's triple jump medal at the Asian Games. Here are the final results:

Asha Ilango manages 13.65m on her fifth attempt, failing to improve on her best. She is seen clutching her hamstring after that jump. One more jump remaining for Asha to try and enter the medal spots.

Yi Li, who is currently in the bronze spot, makes an impressive jump but it's invalid! 

Anamika and Pooja finish a distant fourth and fifth in the first 200m heat of the heptathlon final. Anamika's timing is 25.96s, Pooja's 26.27s. This won't do much good to improve their positions in the overall standings.

Overall, Pooja and Anamika are seventh and ninth, with three events remaining.

Asha Ilango with another decent jump of 13.63m on the fourth attempt, but she does not improve on her best of 13.83m. Her season best and personal best is 13.89m; if she can deliver that, that would take her to the medal spots.

Alongside the women's triple jump final, we'll also have some more action from the heptathlon. The 200m event is about to begin in five minutes.

India's Pooja and Anamika are eighth and ninth respectively in the overall standings, so they need a good performance here.

Niharika Vashisht has been eliminated from the women's triple jump final. Only the top eight remain in the competition after the first three attemps, and Niharika is 10th with a best of 13.00m.

Asha Ilango will keep India's charge alive.

A great improvement by Asha Ilango! She jumps 13.83m, the exact same as China's Yi Li in the bronze medal position. However, she is placed fourth as her second-best attempt is worse than Li's second-best.

Three more jumps left!

Good run by Gurindervir Singh! He finishes second in Heat 4 to qualify for the semi-finals. He was leading for most of the run, but ultimately came second with a time of 10.38s.

The semi-finals will take place tomorrow.

Back to the women's triple jump final, Asha Ilango has dropped from second to fifth due to other competitors improving. Her second jump was good, but was narrowly invalid. Asha will need to make a good improvement from her 13.43m best so far. Currently, gold is 14.12m, silver 13.90m and bronze 13.79m.

Niharika, the other Indian in the final, is 10th with a jump of 13.00m.

Animesh Kujur finishes third in Heat 1 of the men's 100m, guaranteeing qualification to the semi-finals. He finishes with a time of 10.36s.

Thailand's Puripol Boonson wins Heat 1 by blitzing it in 9.95s! That's only 0.12s less than the Asian Games record!

A very good first jump by Asha Ilango in the women's triple jump final! 13.43m jump sees her move up to second! 

Niharika Vashisht started off with an invalid first attempt.

All three throws have been completed in the shot put event of the heptathlon. Pooja finishes fourth with a best throw of 11.44m, Anamika comes eighth with 11.15m.

Overall, Pooja is eighth and Anamika ninth! The two will hope to put in some big performances in the remaining events.

Back to the shot put, and it's an excellent throw by Pooja! She throws 11.44m on her third attempt, taking her up to fourth. Unfortunately, despite improving to 11.15m, Anamika remains in eighth.

The women's triple jump final is about to get underway. Niharika Vashisht and Asha Ilango are representing India in this event. Will they be able to deliver India's first-ever Asian Games medal in women's triple jump?

Anamika has improved from 10.62m to 10.87m on her second attempt. However, that is not enough to improve her position; she remains in eighth. 

Pooja threw an underwhelming 9.19m on her second attempt.

End of the first round of attempts. Pooja has dropped to fifth after throws by her competitors. Anamika is in 8th, with a throw of 10.62m on her first go.

A decent throw by Pooja to start off! She manages 11.20m on her first attempt, taking her up to third position. The best so far has been 12.45m.

We are noticing a bit of a delay in the heptathlon shot put event. We've just had one throw so far; proceedings seemed to have stopped momentarily due to some equipment issue.

We are less than 10 minutes away from the scheduled start of the shot put even at women's heptathlon. Let's see how well Anamika and Pooja can do, in their bid to improve their position.

India's Anamika Aneesh and Pooja will be in action shortly, in the shot put section of the heptathlon. Currently, Anamika is 6th and Pooja is 9th out of the 10 finalists.

India have won medals in every heptathlon at Asian Games in the 21st century, except 2014.
