Ace shooter Narang gets licence to import rifle

Ace shooter Gagan Narang on Thursday obtained licence to import a rifle under the sports quota as per a new policy of the government.

Ace shooter Gagan Narang on Thursday obtained licence to import a rifle under the sports quota as per a new policy of the government.

Narang's application for importing rifle was disposed off in one hour and it was handed over to him at the Office of the Foreign Trade here tonight.

Narang said he submitted the recommendation from the shooting federation while applying for the licence to import the rifle.

According to the earlier policy, it used to take about six months to get the licence as the sportspersons had to apply to the federation first which would go finally to the foreign trade office via the Sports Authority of India, and the Sports Ministry.

Narang said that he would import the rifle from Switzerland.
