After 46 days of riveting cricket, we finally got a new World Champion in England who won their maiden 50-over World Cup after beating New Zealand, courtesy their superior boundary count after the 102 overs of game couldn't separate the two finalists. New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson who scored 578 runs and led his team to the final was adjudged the player of the tournament. Indian opener Rohit Sharma ended up as tournament's top-scorer with 648 runs while Australia's Mitchell Starc finished the tournament as leading wicket-taker with 27 wickets.
