Petra Kvitova, the 2011 Wimbledon Champion, is next in the list of the only higher-ranked seeds remaining at number six. Czech Republic's Kvitova burst on the tennis scene quite early in her career and won Wimbledon beating Maria Sharapova in the final when she was just 21. She was also in the news recently for her break-up with renowned doubles specialist Radek Stepanek, who is also currently Leander Paes men's doubles partner. Kvitova will meet her compatriot and 23rd seed Lucie Safarova in the semifinal.

Next in the list is ninth-seeded German Angelique Kerber, who after getting the better of Maria Sharapova, will face Canadian heart-throb Eugenie Bouchard in the quarterfinals. Kerber made it to the semifinals at Wimbledon last year and is in very good form.

Of course, we can't forget Canada's new tennis pride Eugenie Bouchard, who is the 13th seed coming into Wimbledon. Astonishingly, at age 20, she has reached the quarterfinals of all the three Grand Slams this season. She is projected by many as the next best thing to happen to tennis after Maria Sharapova, both in terms of looks and talent.

German Sabine Lisicki reached the final at Wimbledon last year, where she lost to the now retired France's Marion Bartoli, and the 19th seed is the favourite to claim the crown at the All England Club this year after most of the top seeds suffered an early exit. Many tennis fans describe her as a cute player and she is very active on social networking platforms.

Lying a little low in the stakes is Czech Republic's Lucie Safarova, who is more known for her doubles play. However, seeded 23rd in the draw, Safarova is no easy player to beat and she has done very well for her country in the Fed Cup competition. She is also doing well in the doubles this year at Wimbledon and it seems to be a very exciting year for her. May the best girl win Wimbledon!
