Former Indian cricket team star Hemang Badani was left 'worried' ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024 after Mumbai Indians' disappointing run in the ongoing IPL 2024. Mumbai Indians, which features both India captain Rohit Sharma and vice-captain Hardik Pandya, were the first team to crash out of the playoffs race and after the loss against Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday, they now have just 4 wins in 13 matches in the tournament. Badani took to social media to express his thoughts and said that it is concerning for India that both Rohit and Hardik will not be part of the IPL playoffs just ahead of the T20 World Cup.
"Indian captain and vice captain out of the IPL. What does that speak of our quality depth and our chances.Trolls stay away.. If you have something objective to add then pls do.I for one am very worried about team India!" Badani wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Coming to the match, KKR beat MI in a rain-affected match with Venkatesh Iyer being the top-performer with the bat before Varun Chakaravarthy, Andre Russell and Harshit Rana left MI batters reeling.
MI captain Hardik Pandya opened up about his side's disappointing form in IPL 2024.
"Tough one, yeah. As a batting unit, the foundation was there but we could not capitalize after that and keep the momentum up. The wicket was a little up and down and a little tacky so momentum was very important. I think it was a par score, given the conditions, felt that the bowlers did well. Every ball that came back from the boundary came back wet. The bowlers made sure they kept taking wickets. (On his thoughts for the next game) Nothing, just to go and enjoy as much as we can and play good cricket, that's been my motto from the start. I don't think we've played enough good cricket this season," he said.
