At just 18, Anahat Singh scripts history by becoming the first Indian woman to reach an Asian Games singles final and secure a silver medal in the event. In doing so, she surpasses the achievements of Indian squash stalwarts Dipika Pallikal and Joshna Chinappa, both of whom had previously won bronze medals in the women's singles competition.

Meanwhile, Abhay Singh becomes only the second Indian male squash player to advance to the men's singles final at the Asian Games, emulating the feat achieved by Saurav Ghosal.

Their remarkable runs also mark a historic first for India, as the country has representatives in both the men's and women's individual squash finals at the same Asian Games edition for the first time ever.

The loss not only deprived Anahat Singh and Abhay Singh from Asian Games 2026 gold medals but also stopped them from getting a direct qualification for the 2028 LA Olympics. 

And the final move has been played and Anahat Singh loses the women's singles squash final against Malaysia's Sivasangari Subramaniam in straight sets 4-11, 4-11, 7-11. With this loss, Anahat Singh also loses the singles gold medal and has to settle for silver. Double whammy for India. 

Malaysia's Sivasangari Subramaniam clinches the second game as well and this time, registers even a better scoreline than the previous one. India's Anahat Singh goes down 4-11 in the second game. Just one more game and India will lose yet another gold medal in squash at Asian Games. 

India's Anahat Singh is on the verge of losing the second game as well. After losing the first game 4-11, she is currently trailing 3-9 in the second one. Malaysia's Sivasangari Subramaniam is looking in good touch and playing with great confidence.

Despite taking a lead in the third and final game, Abhay SIngh goes down and ends up losing 5-11. With this, Yow clinches the men's singles squash event at the Asian Games 2026 in straight sets 11-9, 11-5, 11-5 against Abhay. The Indian star has to settle with silver now. 

After losing the first two games, Abhay Singh is finally showing his zeal and has taken a lead over Malaysia's Eain Yow Ng. He is currently leading 5-3 against Yow. 

Malaysia star Eain Yow Ng delivers a better performance in the second game and adds to Abhay Singh's woes. He does not even let Abhay inch closer, clinching the game 11-5. Malaysia now lead 2-0 against India and this is now the last chance for Abhay to bounce back. 

After losing the first game, Abhay Singh is trailing in the second game as well. So far, the Malaysian star is dominating the game with 6-3 lead, giving a tough time to the Indian. 

Oh No!!! Despite all the hard work and comeback, India's Abhay Singh falls short against Malaysia's Eain Yow Ng in the first game of the grand finale encounter. Yow takes a solid 10-8 lead before Abhay makes it 10-9. However, Yow maintains his dominace, clinching the first game in style with 11-9 scoreline. Abhay needs to think something out of the box now.

WOAH! India's Abhay Singh opens his account in style and gets the first point against the mighty Eain Yow Ng. The Malaysian star also equalises within a minute but Abhay manages to edge past him, taking 2-1 lead in the first game. 

The men's singles squash final between Abhay Singh and Eain Yow Ng finally begins. Both the players are eager to take an early lead and gain an upper hand in the match. 

His recent record has also included significant success, with Abhay Singh helping India win the 2025 SDAT Squash World Cup in Chennai and claiming the Indian Open in Mumbai and his third Tuanku Muhriz Trophy title in Malaysia in 2026.

Abhay Singh booked his place in the Asian Games final with a convincing 11-3, 12-10, 11-6 win over Pakistan's Muhammad Irfan in the semifinals. He became only the second Indian man after Saurav Ghosal to reach the Asian Games men's singles final.

Abhay has never won an individual medal at the Asian Games. He has a team gold medal and a mixed doubles bronze already in his kitty. A singles gold medal, or any medal for the fact, is an absolute first for Abhay in singles competition.

Another important aspect to note is that the winner of the final doesn't just get the gold medal but also an extra incentive! The win grants the winner a direct qualification pathways towards the LA 2028 Olympic Games, where squash makes its official debut.
