Smith and Petersen started confidently. de Villiers and du Plessis then came together to add 205 runs to help them set up the platform for the win but at the end the wicket of du Plessis meant it was a draw.
India began their second innings strongly with Vijay and Pujara playing cautiously. Pujara hit his 6th Test century. He along with Kohli who was out on 96 added 222 runs together to set up a chase of 458 runs for the home side. The Proteas missed the services of Morkel who got injured very early. The rest of them failed to restrict the visitors.
What a test match we've witnessed! Five days of gripping contest between the bat and the ball. India elected to bat and did well, thanks to a century from Kohli! South Africa replied well with Smith and Amla playing well before the middle order was blown away by the Indian seamers. Nevertheless the epic partnership between AB de Villiers and Faf du Plessis helped South Africa into a position from where they could go on to win. But the wicket of du Plessis turned the game into a draw. Indians bowled well but without much luck. Shami bowled the best with figures of 3 for 107. Zaheer, Ishant and Ashwin toiled hard but did not get the results for it.
