Ghosal was leading 2-1 before the Frenchman fought back to clinch a 11-9, 8-11, 10-12, 11-4, 11-8 in a 91-minute opening round contest in the Professional Squash Association (PSA) World Series event on Sunday.
The world number 15 said it was one of his best efforts against a top-10 player.
"It has to be one of the best I have played against a top-10 player. I don't think I played badly in the all important decider but at the end of the day if you have to win matches like these," Ghosal told PTI before boarding a flight back home on Monday.
The 27-year-old felt that he has become a better player of late, courtesy his association with Philadelphia-based fitness trainer Damon Brown.
"I have been working this new physical trainer (Brown). He sends me programs and we talk a lot and I think that has helped," the Kolkata based player added.
