Tokyo Olympics Highlights: Neeraj Chorpa and Ravi Dahiya were the stars for India on Wednesday as Indian women's hockey team suffered a heartbreaking loss in the semis to Argentina
It was a mixed day for India at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics on Wednesday. Neeraj Chopra started the day in fine fashion as he qualified for the men's javelin throw final as he breached the automatic qualification with his first attempt. He registered a throw of 86.65m and topped Group A of the qualification round. Shivpal Singh, the other javelin thrower, failed to make it to the final. Earlier, Lovlina Borgohain lost her semi-final bout and took home the bronze medal.
In wrestling, Ravi Dahiya defeated Nurislam Sanayev of Kazakhstan in the men's freestyle 57kg category to assure India of at least a silver medal. Deepak Punia lost his semi-final bout and will now compete for the bronze medal on Thursday. Anshu Malik also managed to make it to the repechage round as the wrestler to whom she lost opening round reached the final of women's freestyle 57kg. In golf, Aditi Ashok finished the day tied second while Diksha Dagar finished at 56th place.
Indian women's hockey went down fighting against Argentina in the semi-final. They will now take on Great Britain in the bronze medal match.
