The 2016 Rio Olympics organisers had a heart-in-mouth moment during an Olympic torch relay in Brazil. A man tried to put out the flame with a fire extinguisher, as the torch bearer looked shell shocked on Thursday.
The Olympics torch was being carried through the Southern Region city of Joinville, the largest in Santa Catarina State, when the shocking incident happened. The bearers, with their guards, were running through the streets when a man suddenly came out and aimed his fire extinguisher at the torch.
The bearer could be seen shrouded in the smoke but the real damage did not happen as the torch kept burning. The guard on duty quickly nabbed the miscreant as the shocked bearer proceeded with the torch.
The Rio Olympics, to be held from August 5 to 21, has seen protests and lack of proper preparation.
