Forward Amare Stoudemire returned to training with the New York Knicks on Tuesday and could be back in action on Wednesday against Charlotte after missing two NBA games with a sprained left ankle.
"I didn't do much as far as physical play but I was able to get out there, step back on the basketball court and see how it feels," Stoudemire said.
"It was tough watching, so I can't wait to get back out there to really give us that push that we need."
Stoudemire hurt his ankle in the Knicks' 99-82 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers last Thursday.
The Knicks are 1-1 without him, beating Sacramento on New Year's Eve but falling to Toronto on Monday.
Coach Mike D'Antoni said Stoudemire would be a game-time decision on Wednesday, when the Knicks host the Bobcats.
