Yuvraj Singh who played for Kings XI Punjab in the first three editions of IPL was bought by the Sahara Group - owners of the Indian Premier League- for 1.8 million dollars. With three half-centuries and a combined strike rate of over 130, Yuvraj could not translate his personal form to his team's benefit. Captaincy though, would not be a first for him as the man known for his six sixes in an over, led his previous side twice before Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara took over.
Yuvraj will lead now lead a side that is making its debut in IPL but has experienced faces in Robin Uthappa, Ashish Nehra, Murali Kartik and Nathan McCullum. "Sahara's Pune Warriors squad has been constituted with an intention to strike a balance between experience, exuberance, international expertise and promising talent of present and future," said Abhijit Sarkar, Director of Sahara Adventure Sports.
The team will be coached by Australia's Geoff Marsh and Praveen Amre.
