The start for the opposition was firm though when Jacques Kallis (in pic) and Brad Haddin began on a steady note for the Knight Riders after being put in to bat.

While Brad Haddin (in pic) hit two boundaries and a six, Kallis was responsible for four glorious shots to the fence.

Haddin though became the first victim for the visitors when a young Syed Mohammad made him find Virat Kohli in the fifth over.

Kallis soon followed which paved the entry of skipper Gautam Gambhir to the crease. He steadied the innings and hit a confident 48 to set the foundation.

It was Yusuf Pathan towards the end of the innings however, who struck thunderous shots and take his team to 171 in the allotted 20 overs. He finished on 46 with three sixes.

The total looked good on a pitch that favoured spin slightly but Chris Gayle had other ideas once he came to open for Bangalore.
Zoom
It was one shot to the boundary after another as Gayle made a mockery of the bowling and dispatched shots with relentless power.

Gayle was well supported at the crease by Tillakaratne Dilshan who hit 38 off 31 deliveries to partner a 123-run stand for the opening wicket.

Though L Balaji managed to remove Dilshan in the 13th over, it was a little too late to begin damage control.

Gayle, supported well by Kohli who hit 30 off 23 balls, completed his century with the winning runs and remained unbeaten on 102 off 55 balls with seven sixes.

Riding high on his knock, Bangalore registered a 9-wicket win to break Kolkata's back and collect full points from the match.
