Shane Warne won the toss early on and put his men in to set a target. A big one seemed to be the intent as Shane Watson opened with a bang, taking on the pacers.
Zoom
Watson's explosive innings of 32 runs from 26 balls came to an abrupt halt in when Shadab Jakati caught him of his own bowling to draw first blood.
Zoom
His partner in Rahul Dravid though was in no mood to relent as he took on the bowling with equal intensity.

The Chennai Super Kings though kept the pressure up, fielded well and claimed wickets at the other end with regularity.
Zoom
Dravid was too eventually removed but not before he had helped himself to a fluent 66 of 51 balls with ten boundaries.

The rest of the batting could not build on Dravid's innings as apart from Ross Taylor who hit 20 of 14, the Royals only enjoyed single-digit contributions. They went on to set a target of 148.
Zoom
The Royals though began well with the ball as Johan Botha was quick to send an in-form Murali Vijay back in the second over of the match.

In came Suresh Raina to partner Michael Hussey and Chennai never really lost the plot from there on. The journey to a 137-run partnership began...
Zoom
Michael Hussey led the charge with an aggressive arsenal of shots on his way to a 55-ball 79 that had 8 boundaries and a six.
Zoom
Raina too played all across the field as Warne's strategy of using spin as well as pace to varying measures bore no result for the visitors.
Zoom
Raina went on to score 61 from 51 balls and though he was dismissed eventually, it was all too late as Chennai cruised to an 8-wicket win with an over and a half to spare.
