Mumbai Indians fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah produced a brilliant delivery to dismiss Rilee Rossouw during the IPL 2024 match against Punjab Kings on Thursday. During the second over of the PBKS innings, Bumrah came up with an absolute screamer as his in-swinging delivery left the stumps in a heap. The delivery was full and the late swing completely outfoxed Rossouw who could not save himself from losing his stumps. Two balls later, Bumrah struck once again for MI as he was able to make Sam Curran play down the leg-side and Ishan Kishan completed a brilliant catch to hand him his second wicket.
Coming to the match, Ashutosh Sharma's explosive knock went in vain as Mumbai Indians defeated Punjab Kings by nine runs in a thrilling IPL 2024 encounter.
Earlier, Suryakumar Yadav slammed 78 off 53 deliveries to take MI to 192/7 in 20 overs.
"This was a close game. Much closer than what we thought it would go. Of course, you want to make an impact when the ball does something. In this format the ball swings two overs. When I want to bowl more, I play Test cricket. That fulfills my desires. This format is a little difficult for bowlers, with time restrictions and impact player rules. Batting lineup becomes deeper and deeper. But that's not in your control. I do relay the message to the bowlers whenever I can. But you also don't want to deliver too many messages in the heat of the moment," Bumrah said at the post-match presentation.
The victory was MI's third win in this year's competition and with 6 points, they moved up to the seventh spot in the IPL 2024 points table. They next face Rajasthan Royals on April 22.
