Defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) defeated Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) by 48 runs in the 13th match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi on Thursday. MI posted a total of 191/4 in 20 overs, after being sent in to bat by KXIP captain KL Rahul. Skipper Rohit Sharma was the highest run-scorer for the Mumbai-based franchise smashing 70 runs off 45 deliveries. All-rounders Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya ensured the perfect finish following Rohit's dismissal, with Pollard (47* off 20) and Hardik (30* off 11) smashing the ball to all corners of the ground. Windies pacer Sheldon Cottrell was the pick of the bowlers for KXIP, accounting for the key dismissal of Quinton de Kock while conceding only 20 runs. In return, the Punjab-based franchise was restricted to 143/8 in 20 overs.
