India firmly in the driving seat, and it will be intriguing to see how long they continue batting on Day 2. Yashasvi Jaiswal, unbeaten on 173, has a number of milestones in front of him. India could be aiming for 400+ at least.

West Indies have endured a day to forget. 90 overs of toil in the outfield, but only 2 wickets to show for their efforts. Jomel Warrican took both, including getting KL Rahul stumped out with a magical ball. But those moments were few and far between, and Warrican even dropped Sudharsan in one of the few chances of the day.

Stumps on Day 1. A day totally dominated by Team India. Yashasvi Jaiswal has batted the entire day, he ends unbeaten on 173. KL Rahul made 38, Sai Sudharsan slammed his highest Test score of 87, and captain Gill at the crease now, ending on 20.

West Indies captain Roston Chase says clearly that he's unhappy with the outcome of the toss. Chase mentions that he also wanted to bat first, as the pitch looks dry. He announces two changes to the Windies playing XI -- Tevin Imlach and Anderson Phillip come in.

He's done it! Shubman Gill has won the toss for the first time as Test skipper! After six losses in a row, the toss curse has finally been broken. He opts to bat. India are also going with an unchanged playing XI.

Indian captain Shubman Gill is yet to win a toss as Test skipper. He lost all five in England, and also lost the toss in the first Test against West Indies. Will that curse be broken today? Let's find out, it's time for the toss.

India will kickstart their bid for a 10th successive Test series victory over West Indies today. The last time WI beat India in a Test series was in 2002, after which India have won all nine series played between the two nations. In fact, West Indies have not won a Test against India since 2002.

Given the convincing margin of victory in the first Test, few can blame Gill and Gambhir if they choose to stick with the same playing XI. However, among the hopefuls for a game will be back-up wicket-keeper N Jagadeesan, who will be desperate for a first Test cap. He could potentially replace the out-of-form Sai Sudharsan.

We are just about half an hour away from toss time at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Roston Chase won the toss in the first match, but arguably took the wrong decision by choosing to bat. It will be intriguing to see what the toss-winning captain decides to do today.

Karun Nair has already been moved out of India's plans in Test cricket. The pressure is now on Sai Sudharsan, who has only managed 147 runs in seven innings and scored only seven in the first Test. He needs to prove his credentials with the bat in red-ball cricket and show the selectors that they were right to show their faith in him.

The West Indies are likely to contemplate adding left-arm pacer Jediah Blades to the playing XI for the second Test. The rest of the team is unlikely to be changed despite the result in Ahmedabad.

India are unlikely to make any changes to their playing XI for the second Test, but a slight experiment with the batting order is anticipated. Nitish Kumar Reddy, who did not get a chance to bat in the first match, may be promoted up the order in New Delhi. The team management is keen to properly assess Nitish's form, and a change in his position could facilitate that opportunity during the second Test.
