Rohit Sharma slammed a brilliant hundred on Day 1 of the ongoing second Test between India and England in Chennai on Saturday. The Test also marked the return of fans in an international cricket match for the first time in India since March last year. As Rohit smashed the England bowlers to all parts of the MA Chidambaram stadium, his wife Ritika applauded from the stands. Rohit's seventh hundred in the longest format of the game came on the eve of Valentine's Day. It wasn't the first time that Rohit put on a batting masterclass with his wife Ritika watching from the stands on a special occasion. Mumbai Indians took to Twitter to unveil an interesting connection between some of Rohit's key knocks and the presence of Ritika inside the stadium.
Earlier in the day, Rohit stitched an important 85-run partnership with Cheteshwar Pujara after India lost the wicket of Shubman Gill in the second over of the day.
After Pujara fell, Virat Kohli was cleaned up by Moeen Ali for a duck.
Rohit then found ample support from Ajinkya Rahane as the duo took India to a comfortable position.
Rohit and Rahane added 162 runs for the fourth wicket.
India finished the day at 300 for six with Rishabh Pant unbeaten on 33 and Axar Patel not out on five.
