The 49-year-old Spaniard birdied the first extra hole at the Hong Kong Golf Club to defeat Thailand's Prom Meesawat and Stuart Manley of Wales and collect a winner's cheque of $216,660.
Prom Meesawat, who lost to China's Liang Wen-chong in a play-off in Manila, put himself in a strong position to win a second Asian Tour title since 2006 after compiling a nine-under-par 133 total at the Pantai Indah Kapuk course at the Damai Indah Golf.
Prom "Big Dolphin" Meesawat will be one of the players leaving his driver well alone this week as the Asian Tour heads to the tight, tricky Delhi Golf Club for the Panasonic Open India.
