Fernando Alonso wins the German Grand Prix

Fernando Alonso took the full honours at Hockenheim as he won the German Grand Prix.

Sebastian Vettel had to be content with second place but it was something to write home for the German as he had a podium finish. Later though his position was pulled down to fifth after a drive-through penalty.

Jenson Button was denied a chance to finish second by Vettel but it did not deny him a top three finish as he came in third position. The decision taken by Vettel at the hairpin exit, though, proved to be a boon for Button, as he was promoted to the second spot.

Mark Webber did not have a good outing but he did manage to come in the top ten taking eighth place in the race.

Force India scraped through to a top ten finish as Nico Hulkenberg finished ninth in the final standings while Paul di Resta missed out narrowly to come in eleventh.
