Marouane Fellaini rescued a point for Everton as they checked reigning champions Manchester United's Premier League title bid in a 1-1 draw at Goodison Park on Saturday.
United, looking for a seventh straight win in all competitions, went ahead in the 22nd minute when Scotland midfielder Darren Fletcher, after receiving a pass from veteran winger Ryan Giggs, took the ball away from Joleon Lescott before shooting through the legs of former United goalkeeper Tim Howard.
But at the other end another United old boy helped Everton draw level.
Phil Neville supplied the cross from which midfielder Fellaini headed in a 63rd minute equaliser.
The draw left United five points behind leaders Chelsea and Liverpool, who face one another at Stamford Bridge on Sunday,
Hull City, the surprise package of the Premier League season, can strengthen their grip on third place away to West Brom later on Saturday.
Arsenal will look to bolster their title challenge away to fellow London club West Ham on Sunday. Meanwhile the Gunners' struggling local rivals Tottenham go in search of their first league win this season at home to Bolton.
In Sunday's other matches Portsmouth will look to put their midweek UEFA Cup defeat in Portugal behind them at home to Fulham, Manchester City face Stoke and Aston Villa, fresh from a 2-1 win over Ajax, are away to Wigan.
