Howrah:
The impending visit of soccer legend Diego Maradona to Kolkata has enthused people from as diverse a field as confectionery.
Kesto Haldar, who has his sweets shop at Netaji Subhas Bose Road at Bantra area of the city has fashioned two-and-half feet high replica of Maradona kicking a football using 'sandesh', khoya and sugar.
"I have used 10 kg of 'sandesh', 5 kg of khoya and sugar to make this statue. I plan to hand it over to Maradona himself after he arrives in Kolkata late tonight," he said.
The 'sandesh Maradona' has attracted hordes of onlookers to his shop through out the day.
The 40-year old confectioner had earlier created a statuette of sandesh for former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly and had even presented it to him.
