Out of nowhere, Swansea nearly find a goal through substitute Abraham. The youngster does really well to work some room 12 yards out, but his fierce shot on the spin is wonderfully parried away from the top corner by David de Gea.

Paul Pogba plays that lovely, disguised, dinked ball over the top from the edge of the box that he does so well, and Juan Mata is a matter (see what I did there?) of yards out, but sends his volley on the turn over. Juan Mata floats a wonderful cross in from the right and Lukaku unselfishly nods it back across goal for Sanchez, but the Chilean gets his header all wrong and loops it over the bar from six yards. The two goalscorers nearly linking up for the killer blow there.

This match has absolutely flown by as we enter the last ten minutes at Old Trafford, with the hosts sensing that the work is done now. This could have been more for United, but a clean sheet and three points is a decent way to respond to Liverpool's dramatic win earlier in the day.

Big news at the bottom and good news for Swansea fans, as Newcastle have taken the lead at home to Huddersfield. It looks for all the world like a loss for Swansea this afternoon, but there is not too much damage being done in the context of the relegation scrap.

That is brilliant work from Lukasz Fabianski. Romelu Lukaku looks certain to add to his tally for the day as he chests down a cross at the back post and powerfully volleys goalwards, but the Polish stopper spreads himself excellently to thwart the striker.

A second change to report from United, with Ander Herrera brought on to shore things up in the middle of the park, with Jesse Lingard given the last 15 minutes off.

It's a neat move. A one-two between Sanchez and Lingard gets Sanchez clear in the area. He finds Lukaku whos shot get a slight deflection from Alfie Mawson and the ball loops over Fabianski into the top corner. It's a great start from the home team.

Mike van der Hoorn looks in a spot of bother here as he limps around the field following an innocuous looking challenge. Wayne Routledge is readying himself on the sideline - he offers more in an attacking sense as well, so this could be a smart change from Carvalhal.

It's been a bit of a messy start to the second period in all honesty, which will suit the home side down to the ground, but so demanding are the Old Trafford crowd, they will want more goals here.

United are well on top in this game. Since that early goal Lingard again fed Lukaku but this time his low right footed shot was saved by fabianski. A minute later Pogba robbed Ki in midfield, he then found Lingard who again tested Fabianski to the limit. Swansea are reeling and a second looks on the cards.

It has been a good half for United and a pretty miserable one for Swansea. From the opening whistle it was all United and they very quickly took the lead on five minutes, with Lukaku finishing off an excellent move between Lingard and Sanchez. Swansea did not respond well and went further behind on twenty minutes as Lingard again set up Alexis Sanchez who finished fiercely. The pattern continued for the rest of the half with Lukaku and Lingard in particular going close to adding to the scoring. Swansea have contributed nothing to this game so far, and it will take an impressive half time talk from Carvalhal to get Swansea into this match.

It was revealed earlier in the week that Manchester United are to give discounted season tickets to 17-25 year olds in an attempt to increase the atmosphere in Old Trafford. And it may be imperative as we are five minutes to kick-off here and the stadium is fairly quiet. Orff's O Fortuna is pounding out of the PA, perhaps that will liven things up a bit. SPECIAL ONE STRIVING FOR SECOND With the title as good as over and a place in the top four increasingly likely with each passing matchday, it is clear that Manchester United's focus in the Premier League for the remainder of the season will be to finish runners-up. They will undoubtedly be bitter about trailing runaway leaders and city rivals Manchester City, but they will be eager to soften that blow by pipping bitter enemies Liverpool to second spot. The Red Devils are currently two points clear of the Merseysiders with a game in hand and a home match against lowly Swansea this afternoon will be seen as a prime opportunity of pressing home their advantage with the fixtures running out. However, not all is rosy around Old Trafford going into this clash, with key men Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez under public scrutiny, while Champions League elimination at the hands of Sevilla has seen the doubters circling above Jose Mourinho. A home victory and a much needed three points today will be the perfect tonic to eradicate recent woes. SWANS HAVE TAKEN FLIGHT At the back end of last season Swansea looked odds on favourites to be relegated before a change in manager turned their fortunes around - fast forward a year and the story is pretty much the same in South Wales. Make no mistake, the Swans are a long way from considering themselves safe for the current campaign. But the work of Carlos Carvalhal and his staff since arriving has convinced most people that they are more likely to avoid the drop than to fall in to it. However, with teams around them potentially picking up points this afternoon, an encounter at Old Trafford with a wounded Manchester United side could be a sore trial on their positive momentum. A loss would undoubtedly set the nerves jangling once more, but Carvalhal has proven he can defy odds, and his team will know they can do so again.
