SIGN OFF
Thank you for joining us for these exhilarating midweek Premier League fixtures! Have a wonderful night!
90'
FINAL ANALYSIS
Chelsea will feel quite angry about giving up the lone goal as it took a freak deflection that gave Thibaut Courtois absolutely no chance at stopping. The Blues responded as a defending champion should, though, as they hit back within five minutes of play, a five minutes that were utterly dominated by the visitors. This is victory marks the first time the Blues have won back to back Premier League matches since late December. Chelsea still sit at fifth in the table, but the gap between them and a faltering Tottenham has narrowed to only five points, while Burnley remain in seventh still holding a sizable eight point lead on Leicester.
90'
FINAL!
Chelsea go to Burnley and take three points with a 2-1 victory over the Clarets!
90'
STOPPAGE
Four minutes of stoppage time separate Chelsea from the full three points. Can they hold on or will Burnley shock them once again and steal a point from the grips of defeat?
88'
BARNES/VOKES
Johann Gudmundsson picks out Ashley Barnes with an outswinging cross that forces the forward to back track away from goal. Realizing he has no shot, Barnes tries to nod the ball down to his striking partner Sam Vokes! The pass is placed well, but Thibaut Courtois comes off his line and is able to smother the ball and claim possession for the away team.
87'
Substitution
Nahki Wells (on). Aaron Lennon (off). (Burnley)
86'
BURNLEY POSSESSION
Burnley are starting to find the ball at their feet more often in the final moments of the match as they seek to find a late equalizer. The Chelsea defense is clearly up to the task, though, as the Clarets are not finding any success at moving the ball into the final third.
84'
Substitution
Davide Zappacosta (on). Emerson Palmieri (off). (Chelsea)
82'
HAZARD PASS
Eden Hazard plays a lovely through ball into the box for Olivier Giroud on the left side of the box! Giroud claims the ball and attempts a left footed shot on goal, but a sliding James Tarkowski is in the perfect spot to block the ball and give Chelsea a corner kick.
77'
CORK MISS
A poor clearance after a set piece bounces to an open Jack Cork just outside the Chelsea penalty area! Cork winds up and unleashes a powerful volley, however he does not catch the ball flush instead sending it both extremely high and wide of goal.
73'
HAZARD ON
Antonio Conte brings on Eden Hazard for Alvaro Morata, who leaves the field in a huff. This appears to have been a substitution that was arranged prior to the Blues reclaiming the lead just a few minutes ago.
72'
Substitution
Sam Vokes (on). Chris Wood (off). (Burnley)
8'
GIROUD PENALTY REQUEST
Cesar Azpilicueta slips in a pass behind the backline looking to find a streaking Olivier Giroud in the area, however some pushing and shoving between the Frenchman and Kevin Long sends the striker to the ground. Giroud pleads for a penalty kick, but Bobby Madley sees through his deception as there was nothing venomous in Long's challenge.
71'
Substitution
Eden Hazard (on). Alvaro Morata (off). (Chelsea)

MOSES GOAL
A cross from the left wing is labeled for the two strikers in the area, a pass that Olivier Giroud tries to place a scorpion kick on but misses, and rebounds to an open Victor Moses on the far post! Moses gathers his composure and rifles a low drive with his right foot that beats Nick Pope to his right, just inside the near post. Chelsea now lead 2-1!
70'
GOAL!
Chelsea have grabbed the lead just five minutes after Burnley drew level!
69'

64'
Goal
Ashley Barnes. Assist by Johann Gudmundsson (Burnley)
43'
CAHILL INJURY
Gary Cahill has taken a knock after attempting to head the ball out of the area. The pass was at waist level, which unfortunately resulted in Ashley Barnes going for it with a right footed volley that caught the defender's face rather than the ball. Cahill remained down for a few moments, but he is back up and returned to action quickly.
40'
KANTE STRIKE
N'Golo Kante slaloms through a maze of Burnley defenders, reaches the edge of the penalty area, and decides to have a go! The midfielder, who rarely goes for goal, strikes it with his right, but it floats just a bit too high and soars over the crossbar for a goal kick.
38'
PEDRO DRIBBLE
Pedro puts on a showcase of incredible dribbling skills after he executes an unbelievable scorpion kick over his defender and, in turn, starts a dangerous counter attack for the Blues! His run ultimately leads to a cross swung in from the left, but James Tarkowski is in position to clear the ball and halt the attack.
32'
MORATA DENIED BY POPE
Olivier Giroud picks out Alvaro Morata with a wonderful through ball that puts the Spaniard in a one-on-one situation with Nick Pope! The keeper, in excellent position as he came off his line early, then makes an outstanding save to deny Chelsea of their second goal of the night.
30'
LOWTON CROSS
Matthew Lowton executes an extremely skillful one touch, volleyed cross from the right wing that finds its way to the near post and to an open Ashley Barnes! Barnes is off balance and is only able to get a light touch on the pass, which is then easily claimed by Thibaut Courtois who thankfully gives his defenders time to regroup.

OPENING MINUTES
Much of the play throughout the opening minutes of tonight's match have occurred with Burnley in possession as they look for the direct option with long balls over the top seeking to find Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes. The Chelsea back three of Cesar Azpilicueta, Gary Cahill, and Antonio Rudiger are up to the task though.
27'
TARKOWSKI FOUL
Alvaro Morata finds himself with possession in a dangerous position and turns toward goal in an effort to lose his marking defender. James Tarkowski realizes he has no choice and drags down the striker from behind. Bobby Madley halts play, grants Chelsea a free kick at the spot of the foul, and shows Tarkowski a yellow card for his action.
24'
MORATA OFFSIDE
Alvaro Morata seems to be in all alone following a pass from the Chelsea defense, however the flag on the far side of the field immediately shoots into the air to indicate offside. Morata has been finding decent success with his runs this evening, but he clearly started this one just a second too soon.
21'
LONG OG
Gary Cahill found a wide open Victor Moses with a perfect long ball over the Burnley defense who proceeded to charge into the area and whip in a cross from the right flank. Nick Pope came off his line and attempted to punch it away, however it took and unlucky deflection off of Kevin Long which resulted in the ball bouncing into their own goal. Chelsea are up 1-0 after 20 minutes!

Chelsea draw first blood as they find the back of the net via an own goal!
68'
SHOT ON TARGET
Chelsea are beginnning to hammer the Burnley defense! A poor clearance after a Victor Moses cross falls directly an open Emerson Palmieri who blasts a drive on Pope's goal. Pope is there, but it the save is a bit more tricky that initially thought as he steers it away with two fists.
65'
BARNES GOAL
Johann Gudmundsson cut in from the left and hammered a left footed shot from distance! The attempt then took an incredibly lucky deflection off of the heel of an onside Ashley Barnes that redirects the ball from the near side, where Thibaut Courtois is located, to the far post! Burnley have equalized with 25 minutes remaining! Will either side be able to find a winner?
65'
GOAL!
Burnley have tied it! We're knotted at 1-1!
62'
MOSES RUN
Victor Moses finds a pocket of space down the right wing after a Pedro pass picks him out! Moses lifts his head to see that no Burnley defender has closed him down and attempts a shot on goal. The effort is struck with pace, however it is placed directly to the spot where Nick Pope stands which gives him time to make the easy catch save.
58'
GUDMUNDSSON TACKLE
Pedro is sprung by a beautiful hold up from Alvaro Morata! The Spaniard blows by the slow James Tarkowski and speeds toward the left side of the area, but a terrific sliding tackle by Johann Gudmundsson steers the ball out of bounds at the last second!
55'
MORATA MISS
N'Golo Kante slips in a picture perfect through ball that sends an unmarked Alvaro Morata into the Burnley defensive half! Morata notices a charging Nick Pope and attempts to slide the ball around the keeper and into the bottom right corner of goal, but his effort is placed just outside the post which gives Pope a goal kick.
53'
CAHILL POOR TOUCH
A terrible first touch by Gary Cahill following a long ball from the Burnley defense nearly grants Chris Wood with an open chance on goal! Cahill recognizes the error immediately and is able to track the ball down and clear it out for a corner kick.
51'
DEJA VU
Things are setting up early in the second half just as they did during the opening forty-five minutes of play. Chelsea continue to dominate possession, while Burnley collapse backwards into their own penalty area as they seek to hit the defending champions on the break.
47'
EARLY CHANCE
Johann Gudmundsson intercepts a poor pass from N'Golo Kante and quickly tries to hit the Blues while their unaware! He slides a pass to Ashley Barnes in the area, but it is placed just in front of the forward's run forcing him to slide and attempt a shot. Barnes is able to make contact, but it is quite minimal and allows Thibaut Courtois plenty of time and space to claim the loose ball.
45'
HALF ANALYSIS
Chelsea and Burnley played an exciting first half that was largely controlled by the Blues. While Kevin Long's own goal was certainly unlucky, it does feel well deserved especially taking into account Victor Moses' marauding run into space behind the Burnley backline. Even though Burnley have had less than 40% possession, they were able to create several dangerous chances late in the half that threatened Thibaut Courtois mostly due to their ability to hammer long balls from deep within the midfield and whip crosses in from the flanks.
5'
CHELSEA DEFENSE
Johann Gudmundsson bends in a cross off a free kick from the right wing that is flicked on at the near post by Jack Cork! Cork's headed pass is redirected right into the center of the box, but it takes a lucky deflection off of Antonio Rudiger which allows the Blues time to regroup and clear it away from danger.
45'
HALFTIME!
We head to the break with Chelsea up by the score of 1-0 at Turf Moor!
15'
BARNES DOWN
After a well executed hold up play by Chris Wood, Ashley Barnes is picked out with a long ball over the Chelsea last line! Barnes gathers the ball near the corner flag, but goes down in a heap as he feels contact from Cesar Azpilicueta that in turn send the ball out of bounds. Madley ignores the Burnley player's pleas and grants Chelsea a throw in.
11'
POPE SAVE
Alvaro Morata charges into the right side of the area following a beautiful flick-on by Olivier Giroud and attempts a low driven shot from a harsh angle! The effort appears to be labeled for the far corner, but Nick Pope does his duty and stops the shot with a perfect kick save.
1'
KICKOFF
Bobby Madley blows his whistle to get this match underway! The home team are dressed in their claret and blue kits and will attack from left to right during the first half, while Chelsea wear an all white kit.
0'
MATCHWEEK 1
The Clarets shocked the Blues in their last meeting all the way back in Matchweek 1. Burnley silenced Stamford Bridge with three first half goals, two coming from Sam Vokes and the third from Stephen Ward. Chelsea played a majority of the match down a man after Gary Cahill's 14th minute straight red card and would eventually lose Cesc Fabregas as well following his second yellow of the match in the 81st minute. Nonetheless, the champions fought back to strike twice in the final forty-five minutes, but it was too little too late as the visitors claimed the points with a 3-2 victory.
0'
CHELSEA FORM
The biggest news to hit the airwaves this afternoon was undoubtedly the FA's decision to suspend Marcos Alonso for three games for his horrific stamp to Shane Long's upper calf on Sunday. The aforementioned match against Southampton turned out to be an entertaining affair after Chelsea fell behind by the score of 2-0 only to come storming back to steal a 3-2 victory from the Saints thanks in part to an Olivier Giroud brace. Antonio Conte is true to his word as he replaces Alonso with Emerson Palmieri after he stated earlier in the week that the Brazilian-born Italian would replace the wingback to make his Premier League debut with the defending champions.
0'
BURNLEY FORM
A magical season keeps getting better for the Lancashire based club! The Clarets are on the cusp of qualifying for the Europa League as they currently sit in seventh place with a nine point cushion on Leicester City in eighth and are just two points behind Arsenal. Burnley have won five consecutive league games dating back to early March, featuring victories over Everton, West Ham, West Brom, Watford, and most recently Leicester City. Burnley will regrettably once again miss Ben Mee and Scott Arfield, both of whom remain out with calf injuries.
