The match which turned out to be a tactical battle between the two coaches, Trevor Morgan of East Bengal and Karim Bencherifa of Mohun Bagan, was dominated by East Bengal who missed a number of scoring opportunities, a media release said.
The much touted derby was played before a three fourth empty stadium. Incidentally the last time the two arch rivals played a barren draw was way back on 24th April,2010 in a Kolkata League clash. Since then the teams have met nine times.
With this point East Bengal remain in the pole position with 40 points from 20 matches. Nirmal Chhetri and Eche both of Mohun Bagan were booked during the match.
