According to reports in the British press, Ferguson has been implicated under FA Rule F3 for his otherwise harmless comments saying that the best referee (Webb) had been appointed for the match. "We are getting the best referee, there is no doubt about that. But (getting a bad decision) is definitely our big fear," he had said earlier.
His statement was made two days prior to the match that eventually saw Chelsea downed 1-2. The FA rulebook spells out however that no manager may comment on the appointed referees before the match in question is played out.
Although a suspension is unlikely, Ferguson has until May 16 to come up with his defense.
