Barcelona extended their lead at the top of Spain's La Liga to seven points after a 2-0 victory against Mallorca on Saturday. Portuguese international Deco scored both goals and put the Catalans in good heart ahead of their Champions' League clash with English Premiership leaders Chelsea on Wednesday. Crowned African player of the year before Saturday's kick-off at the Nou Camp, Samuel Eto'o quickly showed just why he has earned the honour. The 23 year-old from Cameroon went close in the opening minutes of the fixture. A goal then for the visitors could have made the rest of the evening very interesting. Instead, taking full heed of the warning, Frank Rijkaard's men struck back through Deco. Moya was at fault for Barcelona's second - committing the cardinal error of being beaten at his near post. Deco's goal couldn't make the game safe, coming so early in the half and Mallorca kept looking for a way back into the match. But it wasn't to be and a much-improved Barca ran out 2-0 winners. (AP)
