At halftime, the Netherlands held a one-goal lead. Having been unable to score for over half an hour, they earned three penalty corners in the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter, the Indians made a few attempts but were unable to finish. Losing possession proved costly for the team. Five minutes before the hooter, the Dutch strikers launched repeated attacks on the Indian goal, but Savita remained alert and blocked the initial attempt as well as the rebound.
