He played his cricket with guts and passion. He also knows how to reciprocate good wishes. Birthday-boy Virender Sehwag has called Anil Kumble, India's best captain.
Virender Sehwag, who turned 38 on Thursday, has been flooded with wishes from current and ex-cricketers but his message to Kumble is indeed touching.
Sehwag hasn't forgotten Kumble's role as a team-mate and captain.
Sehwag credited Kumble for his second triple century - 319 versus South Africa in the first innings in Chennai in March 2008. Kumble was the Indian captain then.
"In my view, you were the best captain of the Indian team and probably the best coach," said Sehwag in a twitter message to the Team India head coach.
Sehwag has replied to many birthday wishes through video tweets.
He wanted Suresh Raina to get well and return to the Indian team but his reply to VVS Laxman is quite emotional.
Clearly, Virender Sehwag has a great relationship with his contemporaries than with the younger generation.
