IPL scandal: It was criminal to say MS Dhoni lied to probe panel, says BCCI lawyer

BCCI legal counsel A. Sundaram told NDTV on Friday that Team India and Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni did not lie to the Justice Mukul Mudgal committee that was set up by the top court to investigate charges of match-fixing and betting in the Indian Premier League 2013. During the hearing of the case on Thursday, the petitioner's counsel, senior lawyer Harish Salve, charged Dhoni for giving a false statement on the status of CSK's Gurunath Meiyappan, who has been indicted for betting and sharing team information. Sundaram said Salve allegation was false and would be dealt with. The BCCI senior lawyer also said the Board never planned to oppose Sunil Gavaskar as interim president and media reports were untrue.
