Siddharth Chitnis, a right-handed batsman from Mumbai made his debut in first-class cricket in 2010 against Assam. His Under-22 performances branded him as a “utility cricketer”, someone who is tailor-made for the shorter version of the game. The off-spinner was spotted by the Mumbai Indians and was quickly signed for the inaugural IPL in 2008. He helped Mumbai lift the national title in the domestic Under-22 tournament with his confident batting. The Rajasthan Royals took notice of his talent and signed him for the second edition in 2009. Rated highly by the Mumbai coaches, he was bought by the Kings XI Punjab in 2011 for the fourth season.
