The Calcutta High Court on Wednesday ordered filing of criminal cases against six BCCI officials for committing perjury.
The perjury case was filed by Dalmiya on July 20, 2007 on the day the High Court had declared that his suspension from the Board was illegal.
The BCCI had expelled Dalmiya in December 2006 on charges of financial irregularities. The Board claimed Dalmiya was expelled under new rules framed by the body and that the rules were registered with the Tamil Nadu registrar of societies. The Board submitted an affidavit to this effect to Calcutta HC in April 2007.
The six signatories to the affidavit were Sharad Pawar, Ratnakar Shetty, Sasank Manohar, Chirayu Amin, Niranjan Shah and N Srinivasan.
Dalmiya filed a case pleading that the rules had not been registered as claimed, and therefore, his expulsion was invalid.
Having found that the BCCI had indeed lied to court, committed perjury and submitted a false affidavit, the high court today ordered filing of criminal cases before the magistrate against the six BCCI officials.
