Lahore:
Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Shaharyar Khan said today that neutral umpires will officiate at a five-match one-day series between Pakistan and England later this year. "We have obtained the approval of the England and Wales Cricket Board that neutral umpires would not only officiate in the three-Test series but would also stand in the one-day series," Khan told reporters. England will play three Test matches and five one-day internationals during its October 26-December 22 Pakistan tour. Board decisionThe game's governing body, the International Cricket Council (ICC), usually appoints neutral umpires only for Test matches, while a home umpire officiates a one-day international with a neutral umpire. In June's ICC Executive Board's meeting in London, Pakistan's request for neutral umpires for ODIs was not accepted. However, the Executive Board decided that neutral umpires may be appointed for ODIs if both the home cricket board and the visiting cricket board agreed. England will play Test matches at Multan, Faisalabad and Lahore. Rawalpindi and Lahore both will stage two one-day internationals each, while the port city of Karachi hosts just one limited overs ODI on December 15. (AP)
