Former captain Sourav Ganguly on Wednesday came in support of under-fire Mahendra Singh Dhoni whose unbeaten 92 guided India to a respectable 247 for nine against South Africa in the second ODI at Indore.
"For last four years, I've been saying he should bat up the order. It's no rocket science. (Sachin) Tendulkar would not have scored so many runs had he not opened," Ganguly said.
"He's given himself time and batted for 30-35 overs. However good you are, if you don't get the number of overs how would you score runs."
India Test captain Virat Kohli may have failed yet again but Ganguly said it's a matter of time before he finds his form back.
Terming the Delhi player a champion, Ganguly said: "He will score runs some day. Not everyday you can score a century, there will be ups and downs. Kohli is an absolute champion. He's a great player. "
