Wonderful scenes as the sun sets here at the Queens Sports Club. Sarfraz Ahmed takes the trophy and along with his teammates, poses for photographs. It has been a dream tour for them. First, they won the tri-series by beating Australia. After that, they were unstoppable in the ODI format against the hosts. Zimbabwe need to do a lot of homework if they are to stand up against top sides. Thanks for your company. You can switch tabs as an interesting contest between Windies and Bangladesh is going on in Guyana. Till then, cheers!
Pakistan skipper, Sarfraz Ahmed says it has been a brilliant team performance. Appreciates the way Fakhar Zaman, Babar Azam and Imam-ul-Haq played. Mentions he is happy with how everybody fared. Admits they need a month's rest and then they are looking forward to the matches they are going to play ahead.
Fakhar Zaman, Man of the Series, says he has enjoyed his time here in Zimbabwe. Mentions he always looked to take his time, punish the bad deliveries and respect the good balls and it has worked well for him. Ends by saying he will continue to work hard and he hopes he continues scoring runs for his side.
Babar Azam is the Man of the Match for his blazing 106. His knock towards the end gave Pakistan a strong finish.
Zimbabwe skipper, Hamilton Masakadza says he is happy with their effort with the bat. Adds further that he is disappointed though as no batsman pushed on after getting a start. Admits they tried to score something around 250-270 but that wasn't to be. Mentions they now realize how big a gap there is between the top teams and them. Ends by saying they will hope to improve and are looking forward to future games.
Murray was unlucky not to get to his maiden ODI fifty. Peter Moor also played his hand, he remained unbeaten till the end along with Chigumbura. For Pakistan, Nawaz and Hasan took two apiece. No other bowler had a wicket to his name but the important thing is that they were quite frugal throughout. Stay tuned for the presentation in a bit.
It all started with Hamilton Masakadza and Tinashe Kamunhukamwe adding a 66-run stand for the first wicket before the latter departed to Nawaz. Hasan then bowled a beauty to get rid of the skipper. Two wickets in quick succession and at that time, it seemed like the visitors would once again run through the batting line-up but that did not happen. Prince Masvaure and Ryan Murray took their time and added a 78-run stand.
So, Pakistan have inflicted a whitewash. Well, that was very much expected at the start of the day. Another thumping performance from them. Zimbabwe though will be a lot more happier with their batting performance in this game. Although they never looked like chasing this massive target, their batsmen showed character and will to play out the 50 overs.
