That is it from this game! Pakistan win the series 2-1. Now we move to the Test series. The first Test between Zimbabwe and Pakistan will begin on 29th April, 2021. Do join us for that at 0930 local (0730 GMT). Till then, take care and cheers!
Babar Azam, Pakistan skipper, says that it was a team effort from them. Adds that the batsmen did well to post 165. Mentions that this wicket was different from the last 2 games and the ball was coming onto the bat nicely. Further says that the fast bowlers bowled very well. Credits Hasan Ali for his brilliant performance at the death. Praises Haris Rauf also for bowling well at the death.
Sean Williams, Zimbabwe captain, says that it was great game and they have a young side. Adds that in the middle overs, they needed to go at a higher strike rate and the younger players will learn a lot from this. Says that they are very excited for the Test series.
Mohammad Rizwan is named the MAN OF THE SERIES. He says that the pitch was good as the ball was coming onto the bat nicely. Adds that he wanted to stay there till the end and he discussed with his skipper. Mentions that his job was to go big in the end.
Earlier in the first innings, Zimbabwe bowlers could not restrict Pakistan below 160. Their bowlers were not at their best as they let the partnership between Rizwan and Azam grow strong. Pakistan, on the other hand, lost Sharjeel Khan early. But the partnership between Azam and Rizwan brought them back into the game. They stitched a 100-plus stand. Babar Azam lost his wicket after getting to a fifty. Rizwan remained unbeaten on 91 and stayed till the end.
Pakistan, on the other hand, did well to defend this total. Their bowlers bowled well and bowled tight line and lengths. Hasan Ali was the star for them with a four-fer. Rauf chipped in with 2 wickets and Hasnain picked a solitary wicket.
Hasan Ali is the MAN OF THE MATCH. He says that he is happy to perform in the decider. Adds that the Zimbabwe top order played really well. Says that they were looking for the one wicket which will bring them back in the game.
Wesley Madhevere is down for a chat, says that he had a better chance if he took them on. Adds that he had a couple of chats with the coaches and building the innings is something that he is trying to learn. Says that it has been a good series but it is frustrating to lose it. Adds that it is a young team and it is a work in progress.
Coming to Zimbabwe, their batsmen got a good start by the openers but they lost Musakanda early. The partnership between Madhevere and Marumani was crucial for them. They stitched a 65-run stand between them. After that partnership was broken by Hasnain, Zimbabwe started losing their way. They lost Madhevere as he was playing really well. Brendan Taylor was struggling with his timing. No other batsmen applied themselves as they were throwing away their wickets.
It has been an excellent victory for Pakistan. They have done well to defend this total. Hasan Ali has been the hero for them as he picked 4 wickets. Hasnain picked a solitary wicket. The bowlers kept it tight and sealed the series 2-1 for them.
