Right then, that is it from the game. Australia Women have booked their place in the semi-finals. The ICC Women's T20 World Cup continues as we have a doubleheader coming up on Sunday, 19th of February. Pakistan Women versus West Indies Women at 6.30 pm IST ( 1.00 pm GMT) and New Zealand Women versus Sri Lanka Women at 10.30 pm IST ( 5.00 pm GMT). Do join us a bit early for the build-up as well. Till then, goodbye and cheers!
Meg Lanning, the skipper of Australia Women starts by praising Tahlia McGrath's knocks. Says that the South African bowlers did well to put them under pressure. She thinks that the fight back from the side was incredible. Adds the atmosphere was electric. For once it felt like South Africa were flying but they did well to pull things back. Ends by saying that now the group will take a leave for couple of days before starting their preparations for the semis.
Sune Luus the skipper of South Africa Women says that they lost momentum with the bat once the opening stand was broken. Adds that there weren't enough runs on the board for the bowlers to defend. Says that they failed to put them under pressure and they will give their best in the next game. Ends by thanking the crowd for their support.
Tahlia McGrath is the Player of the Match for her knock of 57 runs. She says that she tried to keep it simple and carried on from them. Mentions that the atmosphere was incredible. Adds that the bowlers were incredible. Tells that she has been loving the way the top-order has been batting this campaign but she would certainly love to spend some more time at the crease.
Presentations coming up...
Earlier in the game, South Africa Women got off to a good start but once the opening stand was broken, the wickets kept on tumbling for them. Tazmin Brits played well and scored 45 runs. Australia Women were excellent with the ball and managed to restrict their opponents to a par score of 124 runs.
South Africa Women looked good at the start and chipped three wickets in a jiffy. They lost momentum after that and just couldn't get the wicket after that. They got Tahlia McGrath at the very end but the damage was already done. Marizanne Kapp was the only economical bowler and she chipped two wickets for the team. Masabata Klaas and Nonkululeko Mlaba picked one wicket each but were a bit expensive, keeping in mind the total they had on the board.
Yet another scintillating win for the Australia Women and they have booked their place in the semi-finals. Having to chase a par total. They got off to a shaky start and were reeling on 40/3 inside 7 overs. Ashleigh Gardner and Tahlia McGrath joined hands then and made sure they finish off the game. The former scored 28 runs while the latter went on to score 57 of just 33 deliveries. They won the match comprehensively by 6 wickets with 21 balls to spare.
