That's a wrap - Aiden Markram is invited to collect the trophy, and his teammates join him for the customary photographs. Both teams now turn their attention to the World Cup. South Africa open their campaign against Canada in Ahmedabad on 9th February, while West Indies face Scotland in Kolkata on the opening day, 7th February. We look forward to having your company then. For now, it's goodbye from us.
PLAYER OF THE MATCH - Gudakesh Motie (3/17 from his 2 overs) says he is very happy with his performance, especially after being in and out of the side. He is pleased to have received the opportunity and to have delivered, adding that the ball is coming out of his hand nicely. Motie says he has been working hard and appreciates the backing he has received from the coach.
PLAYER OF THE SERIES - Quinton de Kock wins the award for scoring 143 runs in the series. Quinton downplayed any specific planning, saying he hasn't thought much about anything given the team's packed schedule. He credited his success to simply playing his natural game and using his brain, with clarity coming automatically from playing so many matches.
The captain of West Indies - Shai Hope says he is happy to have crossed the line and pleased to see the fight shown by the group. He admits it is challenging to set a total in a shortened game while the team batting second has the advantage with all 10 wickets in hand. He adds that stop-start conditions make it tougher when batting first. Hope highlights Shimron Hetmyer’s return to form and feels that when the bowlers hit their straps, the side looks a very different outfit. Believes that they have ticked boxes over the course of the series and there are many positives.
The captain of South Africa - Aiden Markram acknowledged the tactical difficulty of a ten-over contest, noting that the condensed format effectively turns the final five overs into a death phase. While he praised the opposition's shot-making and the competitive score they posted, he expressed confidence in his side's chase despite ultimately falling short. Markram viewed the match as a valuable exercise where every player fulfilled their specific role, providing the team with significant positives to take away. Looking ahead to the 2026 World Cup, the skipper voiced his satisfaction with the squad's current form and overall balance, concluding that the series showed promising signs and that the team has successfully covered all their bases.
Time for the presentation ceremony...
Windies' batting effort - Earlier, with the possibility of rain around, Aiden Markram opted to bowl first. Lightning delayed the start of the game and it was reduced to a 16-over contest. On a dry surface that gripped and offered turn throughout, the Proteas bowlers, barring George Linde, did not quite make the most of the conditions in the early stages. Johnson Charles fell early, but Shai Hope and Shimron Hetmyer got West Indies off to a flying start. The visitors raced to 66 in the first six overs before lightning again forced the players off the field. The match was subsequently reduced to a 10-over contest, leaving Windies with just four more overs to bat, and they ended up with 114.
South African reply - In pursuit of the DLS-adjusted target of 125, South Africa were off the blocks quickly with a 19-run first over before the West Indies' spinners came on and applied the brakes, with just 16 runs coming off the three overs that followed. Gudakesh Motie, in particular, was impressive, conceding only 17 runs in his two overs while picking up three crucial wickets. Akeal Hosein was taken down in his second over and conceded 21 runs, which tipped the scales slightly in South Africa’s favour and brought the equation down to 27 needed off 12 balls. It then came down to pace to close out the game, and first Jason Holder and then Shamar Joseph stepped up for the tourists.
Shamar Joseph does it for West Indies - Playing his first game of the series, he executed superbly to help his side avoid a whitewash. It was a high-intensity contest and a valuable outing for both teams as they head into the World Cup. An entertaining game for all those who stayed back at the Wanderers on this special Pink Day occasion.

Shamar Joseph To Corbin Bosch
On a length around off, Corbin Bosch punts this down to long off for a single. West Indies wins this by 6 runs on DLS.
8 needed off 1 ball. Shamar Joseph just needs to ensure he keeps his foot behind the line and that the delivery is legal.

1
Shamar Joseph To Corbin Bosch
DRAMA! The bat of Corbin Bosch splits in two and Rovman Powell ends up dropping the catch. On a length around middle and leg, Corbin Bosch looks to hammer this over long on but sees his bat split in two with the handle sticking into his hands and the rest of the bat hanging by a thread. The ball skies to long on but Rovman Powell drops it and the batters run two. Hang on, there is a check for a short run towards the non-striker's end and guess what, it is a short run from Corbin Bosch as he fails to ground the broken piece of his bat behind the crease as he turns over. Just one run for South Africa.
Excellent execution under pressure from Shamar Joseph. Corbin Bosch walks out to bat with South Africa needing 9 runs off 2 balls.

Shamar Joseph To Jason Smith OUT!
OUT! TIMBER! The West Indian flair, with the ball this time. A yorker, bang on the roots of the middle stump. Jason Smith looks to whip it away but gets beaten to the pace with which Shamar Joseph bowled this and sees his middle stump go for a cartwheel. What a sight this is, not just for Shamar Joseph but for Darren Sammy and his staff as well.

4
Shamar Joseph To Jason Smith
FOUR! Not convincing from Smith but four nonetheless. Full and on the pads, Jason Smith flicks this in the gap between deep mid-wicket and deep square leg for a boundary. 9 needed off the last 3 and this needs to fly.

2
Shamar Joseph To Jason Smith
Right in the slot from Shamar Joseph around off, Jason Smith fails to get right underneath it and ends up hitting this from the bottom of his bat to long on. Excellent running from Tristan Stubbs, who pushes Jason for the second, and the batters take two.

1
Shamar Joseph To Tristan Stubbs
Shamar Joseph starts with a yorker, in the line of the stumps. Tristan Stubbs milks this to long on for a single.
Right then, 16 needed off the final over. Whom does Shai Hope turn to? Shamar Joseph or Romario Shepherd, who has not bowled so far tonight? It is going to be Joseph. A conference between the bowler, Shai Hope, Rovman Powell and Jason Holder.

Holder bowls a fuller one, on the pads. Tristan Stubbs steps inside the line of it and tickles this fine to fine leg for a single. Not a bad over from Jason Holder despite going for a huge six.

Jason Holder To Tristan Stubbs
SIX! JUST WOW! Tristan Stubbs has dispatched this from the get-go. Short and going across the batter around his off-stump. Tristan Stubbs hangs deep inside the crease and pulls this deep into the grass banks toward the deep mid-wicket region for a gigantic biggie.

Jason Holder To Tristan Stubbs
Yorker, around off, Tristan Stubbs tucks this through mid-wicket and scampers back for two.
Incredible catch by Roston Chase. The crowd goes silent. Tristan Stubbs joins Jason Smith out in the middle.

W
Jason Holder To George Linde OUT!
OUT! CAUGHT! Pitched up, wide outside off, George Linde stays leg side to it but chases this and swings at it. Gets it sliced off the outside of his bat, and the ball slices towards the right of Roston Chase at deep backward point. Chase runs well to his right, puts in a dive and holds onto it. George Linde departs for 17 off 9. South Africa need 25 off 10.

Jason Holder To George Linde
Short and wide of off, George Linde slaps this down to the left of long off for a couple.
South Africa need 27 runs off 12 balls. Who will bowl the penultimate over? It will be Jason Holder. Holder went for 19 runs in his only over so far.

Akeal Hosein To Jason Smith
Pushed through around off, Jason Smith strides on top of the bounce and chips this straight to Shimron Hetmyer at deep cover. Shimron takes the catch but it doesn't matter as this is a Free Hit. Single taken.

nb
Akeal Hosein To Jason Smith
NO BALL AND SIX! Jason Smith goes two better and tonks this away for a biggie. Short and on middle and off, Jason Smith rocks back into the crease and slogs this out of the park towards the deep square leg region for a biggie. More bad news follows for the Windies as Akeal Hosein has overstepped.

4
Akeal Hosein To Jason Smith
FOUR! Third boundary of the over already and Akeal Hosein still has two balls left to bowl. Quicker and flatter, wide outside off, Smith hangs back and slashes hard at it. Cuts this through the gap at the cover-point region for a boundary more.
