That is all for tonight. Can Australia bounce back and level the series or will South Africa clinch yet another T20I silverware? Do join us for the second match on Sunday, 6th March at 1800 IST to find out. Until then, goodbye and take care!
Man of the Match, DAVID MILLER says he really enjoys to come in and play in situations like these. Adds that there was a lot of pressure in the beginning but slowly he rode the ship. Further states they saw a couple of weeks ago when Morris was winning games for them against England. Ends by saying that Morris has showed the potential and he had confidence in him.
Victorious South African skipper, FAF DU PLESSIS says once again they shouldn't have won this game but winning such games makes him very happy. Adds earlier they were four wickets down but the guys down there won the game for them. Continues saying they have been great particularly between 7-14 overs with the ball and it has been their strong point. Further states there are few other lessons they have to learn. particularly in the death overs. Ends by saying that Miller (on finishing) has done that in the recent times and David Miller is a big player and going into the World Cup he will be the finisher for them.
Australian captain, STEVEN SMITH says that they looked like they would get more than what was the final total. Adds Finch added a bit of pressure in the starting particularly in Duminy's over but after that they lost wickets in clumps. Continues saying their bowling and fielding was good tonight. Also says that the outfield was a bit wet but the pitch remained the same. Ends by saying that David Miller played a gem of an innings and he has done that for South Africa quite a few times.
The Aussie bowling attack did a good job overall tonight. They went after the Protea batsmen from the first ball and picked up vital wickets quickly. If it weren't for Miller's heroics, they would have won this game for their team. Nathan Coulter-Nile was the pick of the bowlers, picking up 3/29. He was supported well by his fellow bowlers except Tye who had another bad outing. The Aussies were excellent in the field as well but it just wasn't their night. Stay tuned for the presentation...
After du Plessis' departure, things were looking quite bleak. But then in came David Miller. He got off to a nervous start, but after David Wiese's dismissal, took on the mantle and went all guns blazing. He scored his Maiden T20I fifty and saw his team over the finish line.
What a victory for South Africa! They've taken a 1-0 lead in this series and have done so in style. David Miller, the local lad is the hero tonight. South Africa got off to the worst possible start. They lost a couple of early wickets and seemed to be in trouble before the skipper took charge of things. He played a strong and sensible knock even though wickets were falling around him.
