Earlier in the game, it was a Roelof van der Merwe show as he picked up 4 wickets for his team. They managed to restrict Pretoria Capitals to a par total of 135 runs. Pretoria Capitals kept on losing a wicket whenever a good partnership was brewing. They started off well but lost momentum after the powerplay.
Pretoria Capitals bowlers were put under the pump right from the word go. They failed to get their lengths right and were conceded 76 runs inside the powerplay. Once they got Adam Rossington, they bowled really well but the damage was already done and the bowlers did not have enough runs on the board to defend. Anrich Nortje and Adil Rashid were the only economical bowlers. The former picked two while the latter took one wicket. The rest of the bowlers leaked runs and that is what cost them the game.
Sunrisers Eastern Cape started off on a high note in their innings. They lost Temba Bavuma early on but Adam Rossington and Jordan Hermann went on with all guns blazing. After Jordan Hermann's cameo ended, Aiden Markram started off with Adam Rossington. Once Adam Rossington was dismissed, they were put under some pressure. Adam Rossington scored 57 off just 30 deliveries. Later, Marco Jansen ended things in style.
Phew! What a rollicking performance this has been from both sides. Pretoria Capitals were all over the Sunrisers Eastern Cape batters at the very end, but unfortunately, they did not have enough runs on the board. Sunrisers Eastern Cape started off with a flyer but was put under pressure at the very end. Marco Jansen ended off the things in style for them. Sunrisers Eastern Cape came into the final with some momentum and finished it on a high. They become the first team to clinch the title in the SA20 league.
