That completes West Indies' long tour of the UAE. This win is their first against a major Test team overseas since 2007 and it's also Holder's first win as captain. They will now head to Zimbabwe for a tri-series featuring the hosts and Sri Lanka. Pakistan will have a hectic overseas season ahead with tours of New Zealand and Australia back-to-back. Hope you enjoyed our coverage of this series. That's all from us for now. Cheers!
MISBAH-UL-HAQ says that it's always disappointing to lose a Test match even though they won the series. Feels that it's vital for the team to maintain momentum and keep the winning habit going. States that his side made a lot of mistakes especially in batting and also opines that there was no discipline in the approach. Credits West Indies for putting up a great performance. Feels that the track also didn't quite break up as they had expected. Admits that Pakistan's batsmen failed to kick on despite getting starts. Praises Yasir Shah for the leggie's incredible performance. Insists that the team is talented and is upbeat about the overseas challenges ahead.
JASON HOLDER expresses relief at ending the tour on a positive note. States that he is happy with the way the team showed character despite losing the toss. Lauds Brathwaite for his incredible performance in the game. Credits his bowlers for also stepping in and restricting the strong Pakistan batting line-up. Says that he is happy to contribute to the team's cause after having endured a torrid time. Says that West Indies are still in transition and wants his side to take the positives of the series going forward.
YASIR SHAH is the MAN OF THE SERIES.
KRAIGG BRATHWAITE (MAN OF THE MATCH) says that it was a tough Test for his side. States that they worked hard as a team. Stresses on keeping his game simple and says that he backs himself. Points out that his idea was to play more off the front foot than off the back foot. Accepts that this is probably his best Test performance for the country. Admits that the chase wasn't easy but feels that his partnership with Dowrich made things easy. Ends by saying that he wants to keep up the momentum.
The ending may not have been sweet for them but Pakistan will be happy having won yet another Test series at their adopted home. They would have liked to sign off by affecting a complete sweep across all formats against the Windies but the visitors had other ideas. It should be said that the West Indies were very competitive in all the three Tests. They narrowly lost the Day/Night Test and then gifted away an opportunity to draw the second game. Things finally fell into place for them in the final game of the tour.
Jason Holder's 5-fer is what helped West Indies set things up for the historic win after Brathwaite's heroics with the lower middle order. This was after Gabriel and Bishoo derailed the formidable Pakistan batting line-up on day one. The former's double strike of the very first over of the match set the tone for the tourists. Most of the batsmen from either side gifted their wickets although Pakistan were more guilty of the same. The failure to convert starts cost the hosts in the first innings and since then, the Windies never really let go of the advantage.
Brilliant performance by West Indies to finish their UAE tour on a high. Kraigg Brathwaite was the star of this match as he remained undefeated in both innings. If his brilliant ton helped the Windies take a handy first innings lead, his fifty in the chase helped the tourists coast home. His partnership with Dowrich rescued WI after they were 67/5 at one stage chasing the paltry target of 153. The WI wicketkeeper also had a great game, contributing vital runs in both innings.
