With that, we come to an end of South Africa's tour of New Zealand. It's been a largely competitive series, played in good spirits as well and we hope you enjoyed our coverage of the same. Until next time, it's goodbye from us.
FAF DU PLESSIS says that he was pleasantly surprised by the weather this morning. Praises New Zealand for playing good cricket in the game. Expresses happiness at winning another overseas series but isn't happy with the batting performance over the series which he feels could have been better. Opines that South Africa have ended the season on a high after having started from a low position. Ends by saying that his side are well-tuned for the Champions Trophy coming up.
KANE WILLIAMSON (MAN OF THE MATCH) Admits that it's frustrating that one day of bad weather cost New Zealand although he feels his side has finished on a high. States that it's been a good series for his side and opines that there has been lot of positives for New Zealand in several departments. Concludes by saying that his side has some useful preparations left for the Champions Trophy and expects his side to be well-prepared.
With a big lead of 175, New Zealand then drove home the advantage with an excellent final session on day four, removing five SA wickets rather cheaply with some skillful bowling, both from their pacers and spinners. Du Plessis and de Kock survived still stumps and that proved enough as the final day was washed away. The hosts will surely be shattered. On the other hand, South Africa will be relieved - they were the better team in the last two Tests but were outplayed in this game.
New Zealand started well with a solid opening stand but it was the big partnership between Williamson and Raval that put the Kiwis firmly on top. The opener missed out on a ton but his skipper didn't and Williamson ensured that he made it really big one with able contributions from Santner and de Grandhomme down the order. Morkel was the pick of the bowlers with a 4-fer while Rabada who also helped himself to four wickets. It was a toil for SA's bowlers overall.
New Zealand will be gutted at being denied at the final step. They played brilliantly in this Test match to give themselves a chance of leveling the series. The pacers bowled exceedingly well to limit South Africa to 314 on a decent track with Henry being the standout performer. De Kock rescued the Proteas once again after the innings had slipped despite fifties from Amla and du Plessis up the order.
UPDATE 1320 LOCAL - The inevitable has happened. PLAY HAS BEEN CALLED OFF. That obviously means that the game has ended in a draw. Such a shame as it was shaping up for an exciting final day's play but rain has played spoilsport. South Africa win the 3-match Test series 1-0.
Hello and welcome to our coverage of the final day's play. Unfortunately, the news isn't encouraging in Hamilton. It had been raining incessantly since yesterday night and has just relented a while back. It's extremely murky and the outfield has taken a beating. New Zealand were in box position yesterday after a superb final session but it seems like that they may not be able to have a crack at the Proteas today. Stay tuned as more updates come your way.
.....DAY 5, SESSION 1.....
All the NZ bowlers were brilliant in the extended final session to give their side a realistic chance of squaring the series. The first session will be crucial tomorrow for them as a couple of wickets early can seal the deal while SA will want a big partnership. Earlier in the day, Santner and de Grandhomme made vital contributions to support Williamson's big hundred as the Kiwis amassed a healthy lead. How will things pan out tomorrow? Weather is a concern although it was perfect today. Join us at 1030 local for the final day's play. Cheers!
Excellent final session for the Kiwis and it has meant that they are now in firm control of this Test match. The New Zealand bowlers made good use of the new ball while Patel came to the party by scalping two big wickets as well. Debutant de Bruyn was unfortunate to be run out after a collision with Amla. The Proteas slipped further with Bavuma's dismissal before du Plessis and de Kock joined hands to prevent further damage. A huge task awaits them on the final day if the tourists are to save the game.

Jeetan Patel To Quinton de Kock
A loud shout for LBW, turned down! Tossed up delivery around off, skidding through the surface as de Kock looks to defend. He misses and is hit on the pads. Patel appeals for an LBW but nothing from the umpire. Replays show there was an inside edge. STUMPS ON DAY 4, SA TRAIL BY 95!
